PORT OF TARANTO, 01 JULY 2022 - The Regulation governing the operation of the Ionian Interregional Special Economic Zone (SEZ) - Apulia-Basilicata pertaining the territorial units (parcels) falling within the perimeter of state-owned areas under the jurisdiction of the Ionian Sea AdSP (AdSPMI) has been unanimously approved, as per Management Committee Resolution No. 10/2022 of 29/06/2022.
The aforementioned Regulation - in force as of 30 June 2022, date on which it was published on the Authority’s institutional website (https://bit.ly/3R3DVPK) – was issued following the Memorandum of Understanding being signed by the Government's Extraordinary Commissioner for the Ionian SEZ, Floriana Gallucci, and AdSPMI President Sergio Prete on 17 June 2022. As is well known, the Agreement - pending the full functioning of the support framework around the Government's Extraordinary Commissioner for the Ionian SEZ - aimed to regulate the procedures and relations between the Parties.
With the entry into force of the SEZ Regulation, the Authority marks the achievement of a new milestone in regulating the administrative tasks and goals regarding the maritime property areas and assets included within ADSPMI ‘s territorial jurisdiction, with respect to new and existing enterprises that intend to undertake a series of new entrepreneurial economic activities or incremental investments within the SEZ. In particular, the Regulation identifies the operating procedures surrounding the way in which incoming applications are considered and upcoming administrative activities pertaining to the Services Conference and subsequent issuance of Single Authorisation are completed.
The aforementioned Regulation, consisting of 10 articles and 3 appendices, also marks the establishment of the AdSPMI SEZ Office, which will be coordinated by the Authority’s Secretary General. The Office will be tasked with firstly evaluating the applications submitted in accordance with the Regulation and secondly, on the subject of the Services Conference, processing the SEZ files as far as AdSPMI is concerned.
