Enhancement of passenger reception services.
TARANTO, 06 JULY 2024 - Yesterday afternoon, a meeting was held at Palazzo di Città, aimed at enhancing the reception services for cruise passengers embarking from the Port of Taranto. After the success of the double call of the Mein Schiff 5 and the Costa Fascinosa last Sunday, which saw the Port and the City of Taranto host around 6,000 passengers embarking, disembarking and transiting, the activity of the Institutions and operators to enrich the experience of passengers passing through the Port of Taranto does not stop
The meeting, called by the Mayor, Rinaldo Melucci, was attended by the Deputy Mayor, in charge of Economic Development, Tourism and Sports, Gianni Azzaro, the top management of the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea, President Sergio Prete and Secretary General Roberto Settembrini, Corvette Captain Matteo Orsolini, representing the commander of the Harbour Master’s Office, Ship-of-the-line Captain (Harbour Master’s Office) Rosario Meo, and the general manager of the Taranto Cruise Port, Raffaella Del Prete.
The parties wanted to focus, with the cruise season underway, on the strengths and weaknesses of cruise tourism in the Port and the City of Taranto. It was a meeting strongly desired by all the institutions that are working tirelessly to strengthen the reception system and overcome the noted criticalities of past ports of call.
The synergy between the port stakeholders (Port Network Authority , Harbour Master's Office, and Police), and the Municipal Administration, careful to the aspects within its competence, was essential. Valuable is the contribution of the Taranto Cruise Port, which during the next calls will put in place a number of measures aimed at facilitating and speeding up embarkation procedures for cruise passengers, who will be able to reach the terminal and the ship more quickly and begin their holiday
